Changes to country yellow fever certificate requirements

Important reminder to look out for updates to country yellow fever certificate requirements
Changes to country yellow fever certificate requirements

Yellow fever has been designated as an infection for which an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) may be required for travellers as a condition of entry to a country.

Member states are asked to submit details of their yellow fever certificate requirements to World Health Organization (WHO). Information is published every two years by the WHO and details can be found on our Country Information pages.

Occasionally, NaTHNaC become aware of updates to country certificate requirements in between the WHO publications. Where this information is verified, details will be added to our Country Information pages, in the vaccine recommendations section. During yellow fever outbreaks, travellers and health professionals are reminded that countries may change their yellow fever certificate requirements at short notice.

We have recently been made aware that the Costa Rican Ministry of Health have published a notice regarding changes to their yellow fever certificate requirements for travellers, which will become effective on 11 January 2025. This information may not be reflected in the current WHO publication 'Vaccination requirements and recommendations for international travellers'. Travellers and Health Professionals should check for updates and alerts on our Latest News section and Country Information pages on the TravelHealthPro website.

Updates from the World Health Organization for all countries are anticipated in the coming months.
